World of Warcraft Item Upgrades Upgrades to an item are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can increase the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level and increase other stats. Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specific amount. Item Level When an item is upgraded, its stats are increased in value. This is the sum of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly, depending on the upgrader you choose and the type of upgrade you choose to do. This is due to how many perks must be replaced to allow the item to be upgraded. Item level is a popular measure of power, and can be found on all item tooltips. It also serves to limit the amount of PvP gear players can use since PvP is not available at lower levels. The average item level is listed on the character sheet. When deciding whether to buy or sell gear, players can compare the item level. Cases.gg 's a useful indicator of an item's quality and the amount of damage it's capable of dealing with. The level of an item can be used to evaluate items when evaluating the inventory of a seller. The item level can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the full description of the item, including its ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat. There are several theories about how the item level calculation is made. One theory is that the item level is a number that comes from a formula that calculates the value of an item's stats are worth. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different values and sockets have gems that increase the value of the item overall. This process could result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl, which is usually close to Blizzard's real item level. However, this isn't the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item, because the size of the area the item dropped in can change the value of its stats, for example by adding an amount to its haste rating or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl. Item Stats The item's stats can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game makes use of them in various ways to encourage players not to restrict themselves to a particular weapon, and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The stats of a base weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modifications that are in turn enhanced by the player's level. Upgrades to the item add by increasing certain stats of the item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. For instance, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas an item with the rare levels will be upgraded multiple times at higher prices. Another way to change the stats of an item is to use affixes. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. Affixes are used to give items additional damage, special abilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs) or to differentiate them by naming them. All affixes are being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount of gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges as with other rerolling methods. In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may select which of the available stats they want to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However each item will contain at least one stat in that range unless they are an item that is unique or an item that has a God Roll from a boss in a raid. Another thing that could be changed is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to roll the affixes, or choose which stats to increase. As with base equipment, it would have to be done per item and the item comparison interface would not display all the possible stats at once. Item Luck A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the likelihood of item discoveries as well as the properties that appear on loot drops and the intensity of the properties. It doesn't, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players a chance to acquire better gear in earlier waves and is thus more valuable in the early game as opposed to later ones, as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over the raw damage gain. In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chance of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall chance of upgrading that increase with each new level of item. These can also be enhanced by using anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing. Weapons, armor, and shields can spawn or be crafted with the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to give +40 Luck, or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140. Furthermore, certain items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be bought from the shop, or they can be crafted using the right ingredients. Item Failure Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are some cash shop items which allow players to increase their chances of success or even prevent themselves from losing an item if the upgrade fails. The rate of success of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on the extent to which the success rates can be improved and the chance of a failed upgrade cannot be greater than 100%.. The success of an item upgrades is also influenced by the luck of that item. All items have a base success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases that chance by five percent. The upgrade overlays of the item are displayed above items in the inventory. This could block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
